Thoughts

Life
The crazy thing about life is that when you least expect it bad things or good things can happen. Even in a blink of an eye you can win or lose someone. Life is not a matter of milestones, but of moments. Never take someone for granted. Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you’ve lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones. We must all remember that what appears to be the end is just a new beginning.

Healthcare Discussion Response

I was impressed in the different metaphors that people used. They were really weird but got there point straight across. I didn’t expect for people to actually be really involved in the discussion or for people to even get a little fired up. Even thought we did get off track and talked about the war and other subjects that had nothing to do with wealth care even though in a way it was tied in. I thought that the discussion all in all was good and even though I was shy  at first it was good to see others trying as well. I have to admit that I don’t really want another class discussion because I feel a little shy but I have to do what I got to do he he.

Bomb found on King Day in Spokane

Had rat poison & pellets
By the CNN Wire Staff January 27, 2011

A backpack bomb was discovered last week along the Martin Luther King Jr. parade that was going to take place that day. The backpack also contained rat poison and pellets. Even though no threat was made before the device was found. It was discovered by three parade workers. They found the gray backpack on the bench and later discovered that it contained the bomb as well as pellets and two shirts. I can’t help but ask, “Are people so cruel and cold hearted that they hate some human being so much that they want to end their lives”? How can anyone have the right to deny someone the right to live and enjoy life?

“Thoughts”

I can’t stop thinking about the fact that we are doing bad in our education and that it isn’t the schools or teachers fault. Well at least not all their fault; the parents are the ones who have to help. Like the president said in the state of the union, “the parents are the ones who have to make sure that the TV is turned off and that the HW is getting done. Even though there are those cases where there are bad teachers who don’t know how to teach or just plain and simply hate their job. We need to reward good teachers and stop making excuses for bad ones. I think that if we all put our efforts in making our schools better we can change the world. Take into consideration that we are the future of this country and maybe even the world.

State of Union

Obama delivers state of union
By the CNN Wire Staff January 26, 2011

The president addressed a lot of issues that I didn’t expect him to cover or even mention. He talked about health care, immigration, education and the future. He made a lot of great points. I especially liked when he said, “we will move forward together or not at all”. It’s not just about sitting together it’s about working together even though they may disagree. President John Kennedy was lofty in his appeal: "Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, and tap the ocean depths. When people start working together they can accomplish great things, like things that are impossible become possible to reach or even surpass. The thing about this country is that it allows us to dream and believe that we can. That’s why we surpassed the Germans and reached the moon before anyone else. Even though he gave his speech and talked about the plans for the future how will he accomplish everything that he has promised because everything takes time and effort?

“Bubble ball”

By John D. Sutter, CNN January 21, 2011 12:31 p.m. EST | Filed under: Mobile

I was shocked to know about a 14 yr old kid who created the most popular app. His name is Robert Nay, and he's an 8th grader in Spanish Fork, Utah.  He created the bubble ball and it’s in first place for the most popular free apps. It even beat “Angry Birds” which is in second place. The irony is that while other kids are playing games he’s creating them and right now he is in the process of making another one. Another fact not shocking at all was that he used a public library to help him with his making of the game and to do the work necessary to create it. Nay's app consists of a series of puzzles where players have to guide a ball through courses that they manipulate and it was downloaded a million times in its first two weeks. I was impressed and this reminded me that if you set your mind to do something you can accomplish anything in this life.

“Selling the girl next door”

Underage sex trade still flourishing online By Amber Lyon and Steve Turnham,                     CNN January 20, 2011
The sex trades have moved off of the streets and onto the web and the girl’s just keep getting younger and younger. This is how the girl next door gets sold. It’s such a sad thing to know about the reality of what is going on. Hundreds of thousands of girls are sold for sex. The most shocking part is that some or most are still under age some barely have gone through puberty. They are under the age of 18 and are sold as sex slaves. The use of online trade has been growing by the minute and some websites make it even easier, for example craigslist. Most are runaways, suffering from psychological problems or drug dependence, picked up and sold by pimps for staggering profits. These girls are forced to make this a job but the pay goes all to the pimps and if they try to quit or leave they are beaten or even threatened to be killed if they don’t do what they are told to. Craigslist is a major influence in this business even though on its website it clearly states that if there is a suspicion of any sexual content they will be asked to remove their ad or they would delete it because they screen everything that goes through their website.  “CNN investigated Craigslist, posting an ad and receiving numerous calls from men seeking sex. That investigation helped spark a national conversation and outrage, as well as a call from 17 attorneys general around the country for Craigslist to shut down its adult services section.” After the site was shut down it migrated to another site. So even though a lot of people try to stop this injustice the fight still continues on to this day and maybe throughout the years.“Craigslist is like the wall-mart online of sex trafficking” said Amber Lyon who was investigating the case and even though she interviewed Craig in person he could not answer most of the questions and decided to walk away from the problem instead. This story will continue this Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CNN.

Mom on facebook when child drowned.

Mom on Facebook when child drowned by the CNN Wire Staff
January 18, 2011
A Colorado woman told authorities she was on Facebook while her infant drowned in the bathtub. This brings an important question on how important and how much influence electronics or even the World Wide Web has on all of us. Is it so important and time consuming that we forget to stop and smell the flowers? Do we get so caught up on the less important things that we forget to see the bigger picture? The mother of the infant did admit to her being in the living room while her baby was in the bathtub and apparently according to her she did check on her child at that time her baby was alive and well. She told the police that after 2-3mins she didn’t hear her infant playing and checked on him but the baby was face down even though the baby was rushed to the hospital there was nothing that could be done. The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital. In my opinion that was a very irresponsible and stupid act on behave of the mother. She should have been more careful with her infant now for being irresponsible she will go to jail and pay for her actions. This reminds us that we need to be more careful in what we do and be aware of the dangers that surround us. Never the less we also have to be more aware of our priorities.

Officer shot near Woodland Hills.

LAUSD Police Officer Shot, Schools Locked Down.Myfoxla.com. Web staff. January 19, 2011
At Woodland Hills’ a Los Angeles school police officer was shot near El Camino Real High School, but the bullet struck the officer's body armor and he was not seriously injured. If the officer had not been wearing the body armor he wouldn’t have survived. He only suffered from a chest bruise and minor injuries to his head and back when he fell. He is considered to be a very “lucky man”. The gun man still hasn’t been found and nine schools around the area went on lockdown to keep the students safe. This incident caused the schools to maintain their state of lockdown until it was safe and the parents and guardians were informed about the situation. Even though the area was highly patrolled they could not locate the suspect. This seems crazy because today we went on lockdown but just as a procedure. The irony of life how we do things and don’t take them seriously until it gets to the point where we have no other choice or we are in the situation in which we didn’t consider to be important.

The constitution

It was very interesting to know that it never mentions god not even once. Even though the first amendment says that congress shall make no law respecting an establishing of religion. It never directly talks about god. Even though the constitution has been changed 27 times and only 17 since the bill of rights it isn’t a perfect document. There has been a lot of talk about ratifying the constitution yet again. The document even trough time has been able to help and do well in protecting one’s rights. I do agree that they should update it so that it can be more like the 20th century.

R.I.P.

On Wednesday a little puppy died. He was viciously attacked by 3 dogs until the puppy was dead. The owner was devastated when he saw his dog just laying there motionless. I couldn’t help but feel his pain, he couldn’t stop crying. The whole family gathered around the puppy that just lay there in a pool of blood.  The family members had all different reactions some were really angry and others couldn’t stop the tears.  Later that day I found out that the puppy was not just a random puppy but that it was a symbol of love. The puppy was being raised by to people who had fallen in love and decided to start a new life together they bought the puppy to raise; they saw that dog as their baby as a family member as all other people do but even more so that was a symbol of the love that they have for each other.
